Infiray video saving bug

I just lost another video because I shut down my InfiRay MATE MAH50R in the heat of the moment while the video was still recording.

When pressing the power button one would expect it to stop the recording, save everything and then power off (like for e.g. my PARD does), but no, it just powers down and the video is broken or gone.

The first time this happened, when I just got my MAH50R, I completely lost a video to this, not even a directory with the current date was created.

I reported the whole mess to support@infiray.com which they answered by telling me "to check if there any update version to do , this step can help to resolve the issue" which I did (and there was quite a lot since the production of my device).

So after doing all the firmware updates that had piled up since production, I tried again. This time an even "better" error occured: It created a directory with the current date and a video file inside which was exactly 524288 Bytes in size, but it only contained the following header followed by a buttload of 0x00 bytes:

I reported this back to support@infiray.com, that that didn't really solve my issue, which they replied to by telling me that "The correct way to save the videos is stopping the video recording not turning off the device directly." Just great.

I'm writing this blog entry so that you can keep this level of customer support in mind when choosing your next thermal...
